While it may seem odd, or in some oppinions down right wrong, for a people who play a game which they pay upwards of $15 a month to impose policies and rules onto themselves further than the TOS, this is not always the case.
World of Warcraft is a MMORPG, or massively multiplayer online role-playing game. This is a simple thing to say, but not everyone understands its implications.
In most computer games there is a storyline set for you, you can interact only with that storyline, or in some cases at most thirty-two other people. These people are often your real life friends, sometimes other people with whom you share a single game with. Not people you interact with on a daily basis.
A Guild in a MMORPG is in fact a group of people, who have come together to work towards a common goal. Whether that is to have a fun place to hang out and socialize, or to raid the highest possible level dungeons.
To ensure that everything runs smoothly every Guild specifically and every group of peoples generically works together to figure out these policies. Sometimes they are unspoken bonds of friendship come from knowing a person since the second grade. Sometimes they become Laws which a society must live by.
This forum houses our guild policies and every player within our guild as well as those looking to join our guild should read each and everyone of them as we do hold our players accountable to them. We consider them living documents and they will change and morph as the guild grows to accommodate the ever changing needs of our guild. The policies are made not only by the leadership of the guild but also by the many players of our guild. We feel the policies are fair, if you do not feel the same then we would suggest you apply elsewhere. Not everyone is going to love every policy but if you find that you agree with a large percentage of it then perhaps you would be a good fit for the guild.
The policies and rules are not meant to be a hinderance, or cause drama, but to destroy the chance for drama and ensure a smoothly running and fair environment for all involved in our guild.
